Part 1 Dressing Change

Use correct gowning procedures

Grab gown at the top and fasten around the neck

Slip arms into gown but do not let hands come out from end of white cuffs

Place white cuff into glove and the slide hand in

Create a sterile field

Remove dressing with one hand

Inspect insertion site with other hand

Wash hands between glove changes

Snap open ChloroPrep stick and ensure it is saturated

Clean outward from point of insertion. Circles or back and forth. Coverage is most important

Place transparent dressing over site

Label the dressing

De-glove, remove gown, mask, and cap. Document the procedure

Part 2 Flushing procedures

Put on gown and gloves as shown in Part 1

Create a turbulance when flushing. After drawing any air out of the line, push saline and then pull

Repeat procedure for flushing of other lumens

Discard supplies. De-glove and remove gown. Document procedure

Part 3 Hub Replacement
